HireMonkey provides AI interview practice. We are the data controller for the personal data described here — in UK and EU terms the controller, in South African terms the responsible party, in Australian terms the APP entity. For anything in this policy, write to info@hiremonkey.io.
Account details. Your name, email address and password (stored only as a hash we cannot reverse). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and profile picture from Google instead of a password.
What you give us to practise against. The CV you upload or build here, and the job adverts you upload or paste a link to — including the text we read out of them.
Your interviews. The transcript of each practice interview, an audio recording of it, and the scores and written feedback produced from it.
Payment records. What you bought, when, for how much, and the reference our payment provider gave it. We never see or store your card number: card details are entered on the payment provider's own page and never reach us.
Technical data. Your approximate country, derived from your connection and used to decide which payment provider and currency to show you.
Video is never recorded or sent anywhere. If you turn your camera on during an interview, the picture is shown to you in your own browser and nothing else — it does not reach us and it does not reach the interviewer.
A CV often contains more about you than a form would — a date of birth, a photograph, a nationality, sometimes health or religious detail. We do not ask for any of it and do not use it to make decisions about you; it is processed only as part of the document you chose to upload, so that the interview can be about your actual experience. Please do not upload anything you would rather we did not hold.
Where EU, UK or similar law applies, we rely on these bases:
We do not use your CV, your transcripts or your answers to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising — under California law, we have never done either.
Your interview is conducted and scored by an AI system rather than a person. That scoring produces practice feedback for you and nothing else: it is never sent to an employer or recruiter, and it is not used to decide anything about you — not a job, not a price, not your access to this service. No employer can see your account.
Because it produces no legal or similarly significant effect, it is not the kind of solely-automated decision-making that EU and UK law restricts. If you disagree with a score, the feedback is yours to ignore, and you can ask us about it at info@hiremonkey.io.
Only you can see your transcripts and reports. They are private to your account and are never shared with employers, recruiters or other users; access is enforced in the database itself, not only in the interface.
To run the service we use these processors, each under contract and each permitted to use your data only on our instructions:
We operate internationally and our providers do too, so your data may be processed outside the country you live in — including in the United States and in Asia. Where data leaves the UK, the EEA, South Africa or another place with transfer rules, we rely on the appropriate safeguards for that route, which in practice means the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK Addendum where relevant) or an adequacy decision, together with encryption in transit and at rest.
You can ask us which providers hold what, and where, at info@hiremonkey.io.
Your account and its contents — for as long as the account exists. Delete the account and they go with it, immediately.
Interview recordings — the four most recent interviews on your account, for thirty days each, whichever limit is reached first. A fifth interview deletes the oldest recording, and anything older than thirty days is deleted automatically whether or not you interview again. You can delete any recording yourself at any time; doing so leaves the interview and its report intact.
Individual interviews, CVs and job adverts — until you delete them. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Payment records — kept for seven years after the transaction, because tax and company law in the countries we sell into require proof of a sale for between five and ten years. If you delete your account, we keep the transaction and remove you from it: what remains is what was sold, for how much, in what currency and when, with no name, email or account attached. This is the narrow exception that UK and EU law allows to the right of erasure where another law requires the record.
Most of these do not need us at all. Your settings has a button to download everything we hold about you as a file, and a button to delete your account and its contents outright. Individual interviews, CVs, adverts and recordings can be deleted from the screens they appear on.
Depending on where you live you have some or all of the following: the right to know what we hold and get a copy of it; to have it corrected; to have it deleted; to receive it in a portable, machine-readable format; to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent where we relied on it; and not to be discriminated against for exercising any of them.
For anything the buttons do not cover — correction, objection, restriction, or a question about any of this — email info@hiremonkey.io. We answer within one month, and will tell you if we need longer and why. We do not charge for this, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
EEA and United Kingdom. The bases we rely on are listed above. You may complain to your national supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office — and you may do so without contacting us first, though we would rather you did.
California. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is no opt-out to offer. You may request to know, delete or correct, and to receive a portable copy; use the buttons in settings or email us. You may use an authorised agent, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of this.
Australia. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. If you believe we have mishandled it, tell us first and we will investigate; if you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
South Africa. We act as the responsible party under POPIA. You may object to processing, ask for correction or deletion, and complain to the Information Regulator.
United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf. Where the UAE or Saudi personal data protection laws apply, you have equivalent rights of access, correction, deletion and portability; the same routes above are how you exercise them.
Sri Lanka. Where the Personal Data Protection Act applies, the same rights and the same routes apply, and you may complain to the Data Protection Authority.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Your documents and recordings sit in private storage that only your own account can read, enforced by the database rather than by the interface. Access to production systems is limited to people who need it. If a breach affects your personal data and is likely to put you at risk, we will tell you and the relevant regulator within the time the law requires — 72 hours of becoming aware, where UK or EU rules apply.
This service is for people old enough to work and is not directed at children. You must be at least 16, or the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher. If you believe a child has given us personal data, tell us and we will delete it.
We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your theme. We use no advertising or analytics cookies. See the cookie policy for the full list.
If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will say so in the product rather than quietly updating the date at the top. For any privacy question, or to exercise a right the settings screen does not cover, email info@hiremonkey.io.
